What is a Youth Offending Team ?

Windsor and Maidenhead youth offending team (YOT) is a multiagency team that brings together the experience of police, safeguarding and specialist services, probation, education and health, in order to prevent offending and reoffending by children and your people. Having representatives from all agencies based in one team help to ensure that a more comprehensive and cohesive service is provided.

The Windsor and Maidenhead Youth Offending Team seeks to prevent young people offending and reduce re-offending, in order to maximise their full potential by working with them towards becoming responsible members of the community. Through detailed assessments and discussions with the young person and their family, the YOT will try to determine the cause of the offending behaviour and the specific issues involved in order to identify any risks they may pose to themselves and others. Steps will then be taken to facilitate a change of the offending lifestyle. Windsor and Maidenhead YOT works closely with a number of other agencies in order to provide a full range of service to young people including the police, health, education, youth and communities, and probation.
