Happy snappers rewarded for their efforts (22.9.10)
Royal Borough photographers will soon be 'in the frame' as their award winning photographs are displayed at venues across the borough.
The Community Safety Partnership has today (Thursday 22 September) announced the winners of its inaugural summer photography competition aimed at increasing community pride by encouraging entrants to illustrate what their local area means to them.
The winning and runner-up photos in each category and a selection of others chosen by the judges will be displayed in Maidenhead library from Monday 26 September to Friday 30 September and at Windsor Library from Monday 3 October to Friday 7 October. The winners will be presented with an engraved glass trophy and an enlarged framed copy of their picture at a ceremony on Thursday 29 September in the Mayor's Parlour, Town Hall.

Adult:
Winner: Beth Powell, Maidenhead - 'In the bleak mid-winter'
Runner-up: Amanda Finch, Maidenhead - 'Hey ho! Hey ho! It's off to work we go'
Highly commended: Adrian Workman, Maidenhead - 'Rowing on the river'.
Under 18s:
Winner: Emma Carter, aged 14, Sunningdale - 'Hair-raising fun at Sunningdale Carnival'
Runner-up: Oscar Gilbert, aged six, Wraysbury - 'Family nature walks in Wraysbury'
Highly commended: Maria Cresto, aged 11, Wraysbury - 'Wraysbury Windmill'.
The Mayor, Cllr Asghar Majeed, one of the judges, said: "The standard of entries was very high and it was difficult to make the final choices.
"I would like to thank everyone for sending in their photos. It was uplifting that so many residents took the time to capture what their community means to them.
"I am looking forward to awarding the trophies and certificates and personally congratulating them."
Cllr Phill Bicknell, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Community Safety, said: "Thanks to everyone who sent in their photos - it was great to see examples of just what makes Windsor and Maidenhead special to its various communities. Well done to all the winners."
