What can be done?
What can we do?
The Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Team treats each case on its individual merits, and once we have heard your problem we may:
- Ask you to keep a diary as evidence of an ongoing problem,
- Arrange to meet with you and/or the people who are causing you concern,
- Provide support to you whilst the any investigation is ongoing,
- Take action against perpetrators through warnings, Acceptable Behaviour Contracts or (in severe cases) Anti-Social Behaviour Orders,
- Refer your case your housing provider and/or Thames Valley Police for joint work,
- Support work to improve your local community.
What can you do?
There are some simple steps you can take to try and resolve anti-social behaviour before it gets out of hand:
- You should always act considerately, and take care to respect the life choices of others,
- If you know the person, you should consider talking calmly to them about your concerns,
- If incidents are occurring regularly, try to record times, dates and specific information which might help to establish a pattern,
- Keep a note of any names, physical descriptions or other details like registration numbers, which could help identify and deal with perpetrators quickly.
The most important thing:
If you feel that your quality of life is being harmed, the most important thing you can do is tell someone:
- Call the Royal Borough ASB Team on 01628 796203, or email anti.social@rbwm.gov.uk
- Call Thames Valley Police on 08458 505 505.
- Call 999 immediately if you feel threatened, someone is in danger, or the ASB is in progress.
- And never put yourself at risk.
Seasonal advice
Thames Valley Police has launched a summer anti-social behaviour campaign- it's not a good look.
With the help of Oxfordshire school pupils, Thames Valley Police has developed a YouTube video to help young people stay safe this summer and to appreciate the consequences of anti-social behaviour (ASB). The film features a group of teenagers and follows them through their end of term celebrations, starting with them getting ready to go out and ending with them being stopped by the police in a park. It shows the effects that drinking can have on behaviour and how annoying and intimidating ASB can be.
Full details of the campaign and further information are available on a dedicated Facebook page www.facebook.com/notagoodlook
