Community Wardens - helping to make the borough a safer place

The main purpose of the community wardens' scheme is to reduce crime and disorder and link together all parts of the community, acting as a highly visible reassuring presence, within a designated patrol area.

Wardens link to all sections of the community, working in partnership with many other groups, some Council led, some voluntary, local schools and of the course the local police.

The Community Wardens are empowered to issue Fixed Penalty Notices (or FPNs) for littering, graffiti and flytipping. Their effectiveness comes from working with and adding value to, the work of local agencies. Wardens should not be seen as a substitute for the local police or for other statutory services, but as complementary to them.

Wardens visit schools, day centres, local businesses and liaise closely with other agencies and departments within the borough to try to solve problems in the community as quickly and efficiently as possible.

To contact the Community Wardens: Telephone 01628 685636 or Email wardens@rbwm.gov.uk
