Community Wardens - Linking With All Parts Of The Community

The main purpose of the community wardens' scheme is to link together all parts of the community, acting as a highly visible presence, within a designated patrol area. 

Wardens link to all sections of the community, working in partnership with many other groups, some Council led, some voluntary, local schools and of the course the local police. 

The Community Wardens do not have any delegated powers; their effectiveness comes from working with and adding value to, the work of local agencies.  Wardens should not be seen as a substitute for the local police or for other statutory services, but as complementary to them.

Wardens visit schools, day centres, local businesses and liaise closely with other agencies and departments within the borough to try to solve problems in the community as quickly and efficiently as possible.
