Initiatives
The Royal Borough's Community Wardens are involved in many initiatives involving all members of the community. Here are just a few:
- Organising football and other sports activities for young people throughout the borough, including Datchet, Woodlands Park and Dedworth. The football events have proved so popular that the young people have contacted the community wardens to try and get more arranged - it should be noted that the sport has helped to reduce anti-social behaviour.

- Together with our partner Windsor Housing, the community wardens organised a texting project in Dedworth. Young people showed older people how to use their mobile phones particularly texting. Some of the comments received include, "This course should transform my life, the grandchildren often text me and I really can't understand the message. I'll now be able to text in the same language! I'm living proof that you're never too old to learn. I think it's great that the young people have volunteered - by working closer together it should bring about a greater understanding of where we are coming from, break down barriers and improve perceptions on both sides."

- Community Wardens attend the Datchet Monday Club, which is for older residents, and provide reassurance and a contact point for residents.
- Working with the borough's road safety team, the Community Wardens have provided road safety and cycle proficiency to schools and young people during term time and during the school holidays
- The wardens take a proactive part in the many community clean up days, working alongside among others, local housing associations, the borough's streetcare services, the police and members of the borough's community safety team.

- Community Wardens support the Fire Service iniative Junior Citizen by having a 'stall' educating children Years 4 and 5 on the consequences of criminal damage.
- Another project working with old and young people was with Dedworth First School pupils, who were taught how to make mince pies by local older residents, and then served them to the old people and gave them a carol concert.
- Closely involved with Maidenhead and District Housing Association organising another community clean up day (Larchfield) and a Fun Day -see the link to the Maidenhead Advertiser to see a video of the clean up http://www.maidenhead-advertiser.co.uk/news/article-6797-watch-making-maidenhead-a-nicer-place-to-live/
- Together with Maidenhead and District Housing Association and local residents, organising community events, for example sports events.

Apart from specific projects, the community wardens help out with many other areas, for example they assisted with floods in July 2007 and helped with Shopmobility in Maidenhead at Christmas.
