Dedworth - ship-shape for summer
Dedworth becomes the latest area in the Royal Borough to benefit from a community clean-up, on Thursday 1 July, hot on the heels of Dedworth Green First School joining the borough's Adopt a Street scheme.
The clean-up kicks off at Burton Way, Dedworth at 10.30am when residents can join Royal Borough community wardens, borough streetcare officers, police officers, police community support officers, Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue personnel, staff from Windsor Housing Association and local councillors to grapple with graffiti and bag up litter.
Dedworth Green First was the second school in Windsor to sign up to the scheme, following St Edward's Royal Free Ecumenical School. Adopt a Street encourages residents to volunteer to care for their communities and local environment by collecting litter from their local streets and areas.
Cllr Colin Rayner, lead member for highways and streetcare, said: "I am always heartened when I see the community safety partnership and residents working together to improve an area of the borough. By doing so we can all help to improve residents' quality of life and create a better environment for all. It only takes a few men and women to do something to reduce anti-social behaviour. We must all play our part.
"The council takes a zero tolerance approach to crime and anti-social behaviour and we will do all we can with our partners to stamp it out. If we drive away litter we drive away crime and disorder. A clean place is a safe place. We hope Thames Valley Police will support us in our zero tolerance approach to anti-social behaviour and crime."
