Community Wardens:
Linking With All
Parts Of The Community
Welcome to the Community Wardens Website
The main purpose of the community wardens scheme is to link together all parts of the community, acting as a highly visible presence, within a designated patrol area. Wardens link to all sections of the community, working in partnership with many other groups, some voluntary, some Council led, local schools and of course the local Police. The Community Wardens do not have any delegated powers; their effectiveness comes from working with, and adding value to, the work of local agencies. Wardens should not be seen as a substitute for the Police or for other statutory services, but as complimentary to them.
They visit schools, day centres, local businesses and liaise closely with other agencies and departments within the borough to try to solve problems in the community as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Wardens have strong links with all local organisations, agencies and other Council services.
